A Wait Time Goal is a federal wide performance goal benchmark. It is a wait time within which a region must strive to provide ninety percent of selected elective services. Wait time goals are developed for three urgencies by clinical experts and approved by the Minister of Health and Wellness. Regions must strive to provide services so that their 90th Percentile Wait Time is equal to or better than the wait time goal.
The 25th, 50th, 75th and 90th percentile wait times are the wait time in weeks within which 25%, 50%, 75%, and 90% of patients were served respectively. It includes data from persons served during the 90 days prior to the report date. A wait time starts when the patient and ordering physician decide that a service is required and ends when the service is provided. The Average is the average wait time in weeks before patients recieved service. It includes data from persons served during the 90 days prior to the report date. Persons Waiting is the number of people still waiting for service at the end of a given month. Persons Served is the number of people who have recieved service within a given month.
Urgency definitions for each category of service are in development. Urgency I is for more urgent conditions, urgency II for less urgent conditions and urgency III is for elective conditions.
Region is the region where the service was provided. Region 'Alberta' is a provincial aggregate value for all health regions. Facility is the facility where the service was provided. Physician is the physician who performed the service.
